What is the charitable purpose of the organization?
Swing Fore Monroe County is an organization that exists to provide physical help or monetary resources to residents of Monroe County, IL. Our primary goal is to enrich the lives of people in the community by holding fundraisers where all profits are disbursed to Monroe County families who have fallen on hard times due to a serious health issue of an infant or child. We strive to choose a family whose needs greatly outweigh those of others.
Do you only help families with children facing physical illness?
No. Our mission is to support families experiencing financial hardship related to a wide range of health challenges, including physical, developmental, and mental health needs.
How do families request help?
Because Swing Fore Monroe County is a charitable, 501(c)3 organization, we are required to have applications for anyone who wishes to ask for help. Our Board of Directors then reviews the applications and makes difficult decisions on how to handle the request.
Is the Annual Golf Tournament the only time that you disperse funds?
Not at all! We have helped with smaller asks; ranging from gas cards to help with transportation to and from a child’s treatment, a new wheelchair because someone grew out of their old one, and many more.
Have you ever turned down a request?
Yes, there have been times when we have not been able to fulfill every request. We care deeply about supporting families in our community, and as the need has grown significantly since we founded the charity six years ago, we are sometimes faced with very difficult decisions. While we wish we could help everyone, our resources are limited, and we do our best to support where we can.
Why do you have to publicize who you help at the Annual Golf Tournament?
Swing Fore Monroe County relies heavily on sponsors to achieve our goals. Those sponsors also help us to a large degree by spreading the word to others. Often, the community may not realize what a family is going through, so sharing their story helps others understand their needs and come together in support.
Do you share the amount that is given to a family with anyone?
No. We respect each family’s privacy, and details about the amount provided are shared only with our Board of Directors and the recipient.
